How to Have a Successful Video Visit with Your Doctor
In today’s fast-paced world, being able to see your doctor online is a simple and convenient way to receive the ongoing medical care you need to stay healthy and well. Check out the tips below to help prepare for a successful scheduled video visit.
- Make Sure your Camera and Microphone Work.
Regardless of the type of camera or mic you are using, technology can sometimes fail us. Test out your equipment to ensure it works before your video visit begins.
- Charge your Device Ahead of Time.
Avoid going into a video visit with a low battery. Give yourself some time to charge your device or have it plugged in during the visit. This can help you avoid being disconnected mid-visit.
- Check your Internet Connection.
Video visits require a good internet connection. If you are using Wi-Fi and you notice that your device has a poor internet signal, move to a spot that is closer to your router. This will strengthen the internet connection so you and your provider can see and hear each other clearly.
- Find a Quiet Spot.
Computers and mobile devices can pick up on a lot of background noise, making it difficult for your provider to hear you. Make sure that the space you choose to do your video visit is quite enough for you and your provider to hear each other clearly. Also, be sure to avoid distractions so you can be present throughout your visit.
- Choose a Room with Plenty of Light.
It’s a good idea to make sure your provider can see you in your video, especially if you need to show them your skin or other areas of your body.
- Set Aside Enough Time.
It’s important to set aside time for your video visit in the same way you would for an in-person appointment. Give yourself enough time to go online and complete the eCheck-In before your provider logs on to the video visit. Just like when you are at your provider’s office, a virtual visit is an opportunity to have your basic healthcare needs addressed and resolved, so you can feel your best.
