Bronson Healthcare today announced the appointment of James Thomas Corey as vice president and chief development officer, following a national search. Corey brings more than 16 years of senior advancement leadership experience and will lead Bronson Health Foundation and its fundraising strategy in support of Bronson Healthcare’s mission to advance the health of our communities.
Corey is widely recognized for building high-performing advancement teams, modernizing fundraising operations and delivering sustained philanthropic growth. In his new role, he will sharpen the Foundation’s focus on major and principal gifts, strengthen donor engagement and ensure philanthropy is closely aligned with the strategic priorities of the health system.
“James is a proven fundraising leader with a strong track record of building meaningful relationships and delivering results,” said Bill Manns, president and CEO of Bronson Healthcare. “We are excited to welcome him to Bronson. His experience, strategic discipline and collaborative approach will bring new energy to our philanthropy efforts and deepen connections with our incredibly supportive donor community.”
Most recently, Corey served as vice president of university advancement and alumni engagement at the University of Tulsa, where he led a comprehensive modernization of advancement operations and strengthened principal gift capacity. His career also includes senior advancement leadership roles at American University and the University of Michigan, where he was known for strengthening donor relationships and helping institutions exceed philanthropic goals.
Returning home to Michigan, Corey brings both national leadership experience and a deep personal connection to the state and the communities Bronson serves. As native Michiganders, James and his wife, Alison, are thrilled to be returning to their roots.
“I am honored to return to Michigan, where I have deep roots and a strong personal connection,” said James Thomas Corey. “Healthcare and philanthropy are deeply meaningful to me. Medicine is part of my family, and I have seen firsthand how philanthropy can accelerate innovation, compassion and access to care. I am excited to work alongside Bronson’s donors, clinicians and leaders to advance healthcare and make a lasting impact for the communities we serve.”
In his role, Corey will lead and grow the Foundation’s major and principal gift strategy, strengthen grateful patient and planned giving initiatives, partner closely with executive and clinical leadership, and establish clear performance metrics that support long-term philanthropic impact. A welcome reception to introduce Corey to the community will be planned for this spring or early summer.
