Little Hats, Big Hearts

To celebrate American Heart Month, the Bronson BirthPlace at Bronson Battle Creek and Bronson BirthPlace at Bronson Methodist Hospital, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Bronson Children’s Hospital, are participating in Little Hats, Big Hearts initiative. This initiative raises awareness of heart disease, the No. 1 killer of Americans, and congenital heart defects, the most common birth defect in the U.S.

The Congenital Heart Foundation and the American Heart Association provide red hats for all babies born in February. Volunteers knit or crochet newborn-sized baby hats using soft, red, cotton or acrylic yarn. The hats have been washed with dye-free, scent-free soap and are individually packaged in plastic bags with a note about Heart Month and contact information for the American Heart Association and the Congenital Heart Foundation.
