New Bronson Family Medicine Practice Opens May 22 in Battle Creek

Primary care services in Battle Creek will get a boost when Bronson Family Medicine at 2900 Watkins Road opens its doors to patientHelmer Rd.s on Monday, May 22.

Conveniently located off I-94 at Helmer Road, the brand new 14,000 square foot Bronson outpatient facility will be staffed by five providers including: Simone Bruemmer, DO; Carl Kinzel, DO; Gianna Service, MD; Ashley Conklin, FNP; and Judy Cronin, FNP. Appointments are currently being scheduled with these providers who provide routine care for family members of all ages. Prospective patients should call (269) 245-5430. The practice has plans to recruit an additional doctor and family nurse practitioner.

“Since becoming a part of the Bronson Healthcare system in 2011, Bronson Battle Creek has been committed to advancing the health of the community, as well as making access to healthcare easier,” says Jim McKernan, COO of Bronson Battle Creek. “This practice will help alleviate the shortage of family doctors in Calhoun County and meet the growing demand from residents who want to establish care with a Bronson doctor in Battle Creek.”

Bronson Battle Creek is currently pursuing designation as a teaching hospital which is expected to further expand healthcare access, assist with recruiting new family medicine physicians, and contribute to the economic vitality of the community. The new family medicine practice will help support this initiative, giving future doctors a place of employment within the same community in which they trained.

Like all Bronson medical practices, Bronson Family Medicine uses the Epic electronic health record system. Patients benefit by accessing their health information in Bronson MyChart to view their test results, refill prescriptions, schedule appointments and send messages to their doctor. Plus, their doctors can see their health information on Epic to better coordinate their care and collaborate with specialists.

An interesting feature of the new practice is that it is designed according to Lean principles and laid out to reduce patient wait times. The design improves workflow and communication allowing each patient more time with their provider.

Bronson Family Medicine will host an open house for the public on Thursday, May 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. Guests can take a tour of the new practice, meet the staff and schedule an appointment. Refreshments and snacks will also be provided.
