This team embodies teamwork and compassion. In the face of critical illness, complex care and emotional strain, they lift one another up and consistently go above and beyond for their patients and each other. They are being awarded the DAISY Team Award after a recent interaction that brought inspiration, joy and celebration to a family during a difficult time. While in the hospital, the patient’s son was getting married. His spirits were low, knowing he was going to be missing such a pivotal event with his family. Following the ceremony, his family came to visit in full wedding attire. When the team saw the bride in her dress, they quickly came together to create a special moment. Kaitie has redefined what it means to be a nurse educator. She started at Bronson as a nurse extern in the emergency department (ED), moved into a graduate nurse role and now has taken over as the ED nurse educator – a dynamic and important role. Since taking this position, she has completely revamped the ED’s new graduate orientation, tailoring it to meet individual learning styles and elevating the standard of education across the board.
