Bronson Recognizes Nurses and Caregivers with Awards for Excellence in 2026

Each May, Bronson honors the exceptional contributions of our nurses and caregivers during Nurses’ Week and Sunshine Caregivers’ Week. These celebrations recognize the compassion, dedication and teamwork that define our care teams. As part of the week, a select group of nurses and caregivers are recognized with awards for their outstanding commitment and the ways they bring Bronson’s core values to life every day.

Jennifer Crague, BSN, RN: Bronson Methodist Hospital, Surgery, Quality & Efficiency Nurse

Jenny stepped into an interim leadership role at Bronson LakeView Hospital during a challenging time, bringing calm, confidence and stability when it was needed most. What began as a short-term assignment extended into months of dedicated support, helping maintain a sense of normalcy for the department. She guided the team with expertise and compassion while continuing responsibilities in her home department. Bronson Battle Creek Hospital: Interventional Radiology

The Interventional Radiology team is recognized for the compassion and care they showed a patient and his family during a difficult time. Their ability to treat the whole person, not just the medical need, left a lasting impression that will not be forgotten. Bronson Methodist Hospital: Extended Medical Care Unit

When a terminally ill patient was staying on the EMCU, the team went above and beyond to ensure he could celebrate a meaningful family moment. Knowing he wouldn’t be there to see his son’s upcoming wedding, the team came together to make that wish a reality. They arranged a wedding ceremony in the hospital chapel, with one of their own nurses officiating, and continued the celebration with a reception on the unit. Through their compassion and teamwork, they created a lasting memory filled with joy and comfort during a difficult time – one this family will never forget. Read their nomination.

Award Descriptions

  • Excellence in Nursing Award: Annual awards presented to Bronson nurses. Based on nominations from leaders and/or peers, winners represent key areas of the Nursing Professional Model of Care: leadership, compassion, respect, pride, expertise and impact. A Rising Star is also selected, recognizing a novice nurse who has made a successful transition into professional nursing within the past two years.
  • DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses: The DAISY Award is an international nursing recognition made possible through the not-for-profit DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Foundation. Bronson partners with the DAISY Foundation, sharing a belief that relationships with patients and families are at the center of care. In addition to Nurses’ Week, DAISY Awards are presented throughout the year. Learn more about the award at daisyfoundation.org. Nominations are typically submitted by patients.   • DAISY Team Award: An annual award honoring collaboration between two or more care team members, led by a nurse, who meet patient and family needs by going above and beyond the traditional role of nursing.
  • DAISY Nurse Educator Award: An annual award honoring exceptionally skilled and compassionate nurse educators for their pivotal role in shaping the nursing workforce and setting an example for future nurses.
  • DAISY Nurse Leader Award: An annual award honoring leaders who create environments where trust, compassion, respect and nursing excellence thrive, and patients and families are treated with deep humanity. These leaders advocate for, are accessible and responsive to their teams, and encourage problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Unit Coordinator Award/Nursing Supervisor Award: An annual award honoring a Bronson unit coordinator or nursing supervisor who advocate for the nursing team, patients and families; create safe, supportive environments; celebrate their teams; are visible, accessible and responsive; honor human differences; encourage innovative problem solving; and foster a culture of resilience, compassion, excellence and professional development while supporting organizational goals.
  • BEE Award (Be Exceptional Every Day): An annual award honoring licensed practical nurses (LPN) who demonstrate exceptional clinical skills, leadership and commitment to patient care. Just as a daisy relies on the bee and the sun in nature, nursing staff thrive through collaboration with LPNs and care assistants. Nominations are made by colleagues and leaders.
  • Sunshine Award: An annual award presented to caregivers who go above and beyond to support clinical staff in providing exceptional care for patients and families. Like sunshine in nature, they nourish and support everything around them – much like dedicated care assistants. Nominations are made by colleagues and leaders.
    • Sunshine caregivers are care assistants, techs and paramedics working in hospital and outpatient settings, partnering with clinical staff to provide exceptional care and experiences for patients and families.
