SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. – Twelve employees at Bronson South Haven Hospital have been awarded a total of $15,000 in scholarships to advance their healthcare careers.
Each employee received between $150-2,000, which will support a variety of educational and development opportunities including:
- Nursing school tuition
- Business management courses for healthcare leadership
- Re-certifications for rehab support and medical assistants
- Radiology technician education
- Continued education for personal training
These scholarships were made possible thanks to the South Haven Health System Legacy Donor Advised Fund, established in 2021 through Bronson Health Foundation. The mission of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to Bronson South Haven Hospital employees, particularly lower income employees, who are seeking to advance their career at Bronson.
“These dedicated team members are investing in their own growth, and that benefits everyone,” says Dr. Richard Allen, a member of the South Haven Health System Advisory Board which established the donor advised fund. These scholarship awards mark the distribution of the final remaining assets of the former South Haven Community Hospital. “Each scholarship helps strengthen the future of healthcare in the South Haven community.”
“We are so grateful to these community leaders with long-time ties to the area who have chosen to use these legacy funds to support today’s employees,” says Dr. Matthew Dommer, chief operating officer and vice president for medical affairs for Bronson South Haven and Bronson LakeView Hospitals.
