Sexual Assault Services Celebrates 22 Years of Service

Sexual Assault Services (SAS) is proud to celebrate its 22nd anniversary. To recognize the important work of its volunteers and community supporters, SAS will host a dinner on Wednesday, April 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Battle Creek Country Club, 318 Country Club Drive.

The event will feature keynote speaker Angela Povilaitis, assistant attorney general for the State of Michigan. Having most recently worked as the prosecutor in the Larry Nassar case, Povilaitis prosecutes cases of multi-victim and multijurisdictional sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking. She also runs a statewide cold-case sexual assault project.

“Sexual Assault Services is honored to have been able to support Calhoun County for more than 20 years, but we are still a long way from a community free of sexual violence. We must continue to educate both adults and children about sexual assault and provide support for those affected by these crimes,” says Joyce Siegel, system manager at Sexual Assault Services. “This is an important issue facing our nation. We welcome Angela Poviaitis to Battle Creek and look forward to hearing about her experiences with cold cases and the importance of a multi-disciplinary team.”

Tickets are $25 each and seats are limited. To purchase tickets, please visit or call (269) 341-8100.
