Southwestern Michigan Emergency Services Donates $50,000 to Bronson Health Foundation
In recognition of its 50th Anniversary, Southwestern Michigan Emergency Services, P.C. (SWMES), recently presented the Bronson Health Foundation with a $50,000 gift. The generous gift will support the Foundation’s Trauma and Emergency Services Fund.
SWMES was incorporated in 1969, and since that time has provided full-time physician staffing for Bronson Methodist Hospital’s Trauma and Emergency Department. The relationship expanded as Bronson grew regionally and, today, SWMES providers staff Bronson’s three other emergency departments in Battle Creek, Paw Paw and South Haven, as well.
“The donation is a way to recognize our 50-year partnership with Bronson Healthcare,” says Dr. Jim De Moss, attending physician and president of SWMES . “The gift to the Trauma and Emergency Services Fund has special meaning for us, because it ultimately goes towards further helping the patients we serve each and every day,” De Moss adds. “Whether it funds new technology, facility improvements or innovative new ways of treating patients, we know it’s going to make a difference for ill and injured people in southwest Michigan.”
Liz Semaan, executive director of the Bronson Health Foundation, says the gift highlights the commitment SWMES has to the community. “These physicians and advanced practice providers never know what emergencies they are going to see when they arrive at work each day,” says Semaan. “Their expertise and care has impacted countless lives over the years. We are so grateful to them for keeping the health of our community members in mind as they present this generous gift marking their 50th anniversary.”
The Trauma and Emergency Services Fund was created in 2015 by an anonymous donor to honor the men and women who serve as healthcare professionals and provide emergency care to patients in southwest Michigan.
