Special Night of Baseball for Young Patients
Bronson Children’s Hospital patients who had a hand in creating special baseball jerseys were the guests of honor at last night’s Kalamazoo Growlers game. Each of the Growlers players wore a custom-designed jersey with handprints from the patients and staff.
The patients and families were given tickets to the game and had the opportunity to join the team on the field before the start of the game.
One patient also threw out the first pitch. Staff members from Bronson Children’s Hospital were on hand to provide those at the game an insight into the hospital’s child life program and teach childhood sports injury prevention.
At the end of the evening the handprint jerseys were auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting the Children’s Hospital Fund through the Bronson Health Foundation. Many community members who came out to see the game also generously purchased 50/50 raffle tickets to support the children’s hospital.
