What are the Differences Between e-Visits and Video Visits?
Bronson offers two alternatives to in-person appointments with your healthcare provider. They are great options if you are unable to go to your doctor’s office, or if you would prefer to see them from the comfort of your home. Having multiple ways to contact your provider allows you to build a stronger relationship and stay on top of your health.
Video Visits
Video Visits are face-to-face appointments with your doctor, held virtually. You attend a video visit using either a smartphone, tablet, computer or another device with a camera and microphone. Appointments are required. However, Bronson offers on-demand video visits daily including weekends, 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. for immediate care needs.
E-Visits
An E-Visit is a good option when you have a non-emergency concern. It’s a two-way online chat without a specific meeting time, so there is no need for an appointment. During e-visits, you send messages back-and-forth with your provider using Bronson MyChart so they can help diagnose and provide you with a plan for care. It does not involve speaking on the phone or over video.
Before you begin your visit, you will answer questions about yourself, your symptoms and provide photos, if needed. Once your provider has received your request for medical advice, they will review your case and respond within 2 business days, often sooner.
An e-visit differs from simply sending your doctor a message because the goal is to diagnose and provide you with a plan for care. It is also a simple way to request or change a prescription without waiting for a video or office appointment. Some conditions that can be treated with an e-visit are:
- Back pain
- Constipation
- Cough, flu or COVID-19 like symptoms
- Diaper rash
- Diarrhea
- Head lice
- Heartburn
- Insect bites and stings
- Joint pain (not caused by injury)
- Painful urination
- Pink eye
- Rash
- Requesting a medication change
- Requesting a referral
- Ringworm
- Sinus issues
- Sore throat
- Vaginal discharge or irritation
A standard copay or deductible applies regardless of the type of visit you choose. The cost of an e-visit or video visit with insurance is $35 or less depending on your copay and deductible. On-demand video visits are $49, less insurance.
