"There's nothing I can't do!"

Dave Bunt

“Fitness is not just part of my life, it’s my livelihood,” said Dave Bunt, personal trainer at the Bronson Athletic Club. When Dave completely tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in a basketball accident, he was worried that he would not be able to return to his normal activities. The ACL is one of the major ligaments in the knee.

The accident happened in the very beginning of December 2010. Dave originally tried to brush it off. He said he didn’t want to believe it was a tear. He joked, “I’m a man; I don’t cry, I work out.” When his wife finally talked him into going to the emergency room, the doctor predicted a partial tear and referred him to Bronson Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. An MRI confirmed a complete tear of Dave’s ACL.

After waiting for more than a month for the swelling to do down, Dr. Ken Highhouse was able to perform surgery. Dave described Dr. Highhouse as “awesome!”  He said he was always helpful, humble and friendly.

Dave returned to work in a week following surgery. He excelled in physically therapy and his mobility returned faster than normal. He said the whole process went well, from the friendliness of the staff and flexibility in appointments to surgery, follow-up care, and even billing.

Dave is excited to start playing basketball again this December. “I’m thankful…There is nothing I can’t do!”
