Prior to the appointment, wash and dry hair. Avoid hair gels, hairspray or oils and remove braids, rubberbands and other hair accessories. Do not use lotions or creams on your skin.
On the day of the sleep study, do not eat any food or drink that contains caffeine, such as soda, tea, chocolate or coffee.
Maintain your daily routine. Take your “normal”medications unless otherwise instructed by your provider. Bring any medicines you may need for that night or the next morning. You cannot leave your medicine at the Center.
Pack an overnight bag. Also pack clothing andtoiletries for the next day. Showers and towels are available at the Center. If you desire, you may bring you own pillow.
Wear comfortable clothing; please do not bring any valuables to the Center.
Arrive at your scheduled appointment at theBronson Center for Sleep Disorders. You will be introduced to the sleep technologist, and then shown to your sleep room.
Bring a current list of your medications and health insurance card(s).
The sleep technologist will apply dime sized sensors to you, which will measure and recordbrain waves, muscle activity, leg movement, heart rhythms and oxygen level while you are sleeping.
