Female Patient Instructions for Clean Catch Urine Collection

Follow these steps to collect a clean-catch urine sample.

1. Wash your hands with soap and water.
2. Unscrew the cap.
3. Place cap on counter top side down. Do not touch inside of cap.
4. Open the towelette packaging.
5. Stand in a squatting position over the toilet.
6. Separate the folds of skin around the urinary opening.
7. Cleanse the area around the opening with one towelette.
8. Repeat using the second towelette.
9. Urinate the first portion of urine in the toilet.
10. As you continue to urinate, bring the collection cup into the midstream to collect the urine sample.
11. Do not touch the inside or lip of the cup.
12. Urinate remainder of urine into the toilet.
13. Screw the cap onto the Urine Collection Cup until you hear a click.
14. Please open the metal door and place the urine in the cabinet.
