Pharmacy Residency - Preceptor Profiles

Amanda Ackerman, Pharm.D., BCPS - Pharmacy Manager
Amanda graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ferris State University in 2012. She then completed a one-year residency at Bronson Battle Creek. Following her residency, Amanda worked as a decentralized pharmacist for the cardiopulmonary, med/onc/surg, ortho/neuro/vasc, medical oncology, and emergency medicine units. Amanda is currently the Pharmacy Manager and Residency Program Director for Bronson Battle Creek’s PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program. Her professional memberships include ASHP, MSHP, MPA and WMSHP.

Katherine Kuhlman, Pharm.D.
Katherine completed her undergraduate education in Traverse City, Michigan at Northwestern Michigan College and obtained her PharmD in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the University of Michigan. She matched with Bronson Battle Creek (BBC) Hospital and completed her PGY1 residency there. Following the residency, she was hired on as a full-time staffing/clinical pharmacist at BBC. She became the preceptor for the pharmacokinetics rotation in 2020 after obtaining ASHP certification in pharmacokinetics.

Jacqueline Clem R.Ph.
Jacqueline graduated with a BS in Pharmacy in 1992. She started working at Battle Creek Health System (now Bronson Battle Creek) upon graduation. She works on both the Ortho-Neuro Unit and the Medical-Oncology unit as a floor pharmacist. She precepts the Orientation Rotation for PGY-1 residents. She also chairs the Pharmacy Process Improvement Team and has been active in the Pharmacy Council since its inception.

Lori Clemmens-Funke, Pharm.D.
Lori graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Iowa, College of Pharmacy in 1990. She went on to obtain her PharmD from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy in 1997. She has practiced as a clinical pharmacist for over 25 years, with clinical lead/coordinating activities, participation in many different committees (for example: co-chair of PNT, Infection Prevention/Control, Insulin team, Critical Care committee, Code Blue committee, Antimicrobial Stewardship committee, Sepsis Committee), development of antimicrobial stewardship, implementation of de-centralized model of pharmacy practice and implementation of hyperglycemic management hospital wide. Lori primarily practices as a decentralized pharmacist in the Critical Care Unit where she precepts the residency rotation. She is a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and participates with several of the Practice and Research Networks as well as is a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she participates in committees providing ministry to the community.

Robert Coffey, Pharm.D., MS
Robert Coffey received a BS in pharmacy, and an MS in Pharmaceutical Administration from Wayne State University in 1976 and 1981, respectively. He completed a 2 year post baccalaureate Pharm D from Medical University of South Carolina in 1987. He subsequently completed a 1 year clinical residency split between the VA and University of Michigan Hospitals in 1988. Bob's currently a clinical pharmacist in Emergency Medicine at BBC. Bob worked for 2 years in a Family Medicine office, also on BBC's oncology unit and internal medicine units. Bob has been preceptor for Bachelor's students, as well as Pharmacy Practice Residents for their BBC ER rotations. Professional memberships include ACCP, MPA, MSHP, including serving as an MSHP Past President.

Jessica Long, Pharm.D., BCPS
Jessica graduated with her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Ferris State University in 2012. Following graduation, she worked as a midnight pharmacist, covering all areas of inpatient pharmacy practice. In 2016, she began working at Bronson Battle Creek, and works as a floor pharmacist on the medical oncology and gastroenterology unit. She is the preceptor for the longitudinal volunteerism requirement, chemotherapy and the gastroenterology/medical oncology rotation.

Sean Patterson, Pharm.D.
Sean Patterson graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University in 1999. He started working at Battle Creek Health System, which later became Bronson Battle Creek in 2002 in a staff/clinical position primarily working as the decentralized pharmacist for the cardio/pulmonary nursing unit, a position he still holds today. He also initiated the medication education program for the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs and regularly educates patients on the use of these medications. He joined the residency team as an orientation preceptor and oversees the BBC unit-based orientation rotation.

Elizabeth Therkildsen, Pharm.D.
Lizzie graduated with her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Ferris State University in 2017. Following graduation, she began working at Bronson Battle Creek, and works as a clinical pharmacist on the various units. She is the preceptor for the Orthopedic/Neurology/Vascular Unit rotation.
