Internships & Clinical Experiences

Bronson offers a variety of placements for students, including nursing, dietary, radiography, pharmacy, social work, respiratory care, mid-level providers, business, health information management, information systems, communications, purchasing, environmental safety, and many other areas.

Internships and clinical placements are experiences that are part of a student’s educational requirements or expectations. Some schools may call these experiential learning opportunities, practicums, or externships. Because these are school-sponsored experiences, placements are coordinated by school placement coordinators, faculty, or advisors in partnership with Bronson staff in the student’s area of interest.

Placements are arranged after a contract is completed with the student’s school. Students may come with a clinical group or as a single placement with precepted learning.

• Nursing student placements are coordinated through our SW MI Nursing Placement Consortium.
• Mid-level practitioner students can arrange placements with practitioners, then apply in ClinicianNexus to confirm placement.
• All other unpaid student placements, interns, clinical rotations, and job shadows should apply in ClinicianNexus .

• Medical students and physician residents: Bronson is affiliated with Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed). We support visiting learning opportunities that meet the WMed visiting student or visiting resident criteria. Applicants from U.S. LCME or AOA-accredited medical schools typically apply through the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program . We are not able to offer rotations, observerships, or shadowing outside of these processes. For more information, visit WMed Education.

Bronson Student Requirements

All students must meet requirements to participate in any learning opportunities at Bronson. Schools are responsible for collecting and verifying student information to meet our requirements. Examples include:

• Work with school faculty to establish a Bronson contract for training.
• Submit a request and complete requirements in ClinicianNexus.
• Meet the Student Minimum Work Requirements for health (immunizations, TB test, drug screen), safety (background check, student handbook), and confidentiality. This may also include Personal Air Powered Respirator (PAPR) training: PAPR presentation (PDF) and Respirator questionnaire (PDF).
• Follow Bronson’s Student and Clinical Instructor Orientation Information .
• Wear a college-issued ID badge while at Bronson.
• Park in designated student parking areas.
